What are makeup contours?

Designer makeup has become a huge beauty trend in recent years, but as Charlotte says, “the secret gems have been hiding out there for years!”

Modeling and playing with light and shadow can help shape, change, enhance and define a person’s image. In theory, translucent elements will stand out and look bright everywhere, and wherever you use dark colors or pigments, you’ll gain depth and definition.

Understanding the correct face shape is crucial to any MAGIC make-up as over-contouring or contouring in the wrong place can have the opposite effect of what you want to achieve. For example, major cosmetic surgery on someone who already has high cheekbones can make the face look sunken, old, or tired.

What should you get?

You don’t need a special contour kit for this: you can use concealer or bicolor foundation, bronzer, highlighter and even eyeshadow or powder for contouring! Make sure the concealer you use is the same texture (powders can make both watery and oily products look creamy) and that you have the right makeup brushes.

How to get around: a step-by-step guide

  1. Prepare the face. Begin skin care as usual: wash your face and apply moisturizer to prevent makeup from sticking to dry skin or wrinkles. Foundation is optional, but you’ll want it more for concealed makeup. Primer acts as a buffer between skincare products and cosmetics so they work well and last longer. Even out the skin and hide unevenness or discoloration with a foundation and/or concealer that matches your natural skin color and tone.
  2. Body shadow. The easiest and most popular way to contour is to take a darker eyeshadow and blend it under your cheekbones. Turn your cheeks and pour the product into the hollows of your cheeks, following the natural contours of your jawline and nose. Depending on your face shape and unique shape, you can apply eyeshadow in three places: near the nose; 3 ways behind the hair, under the cheeks and on the chin; or an upside down triangular frame in front of you. Shape your face with different lines and patterns until you get the perfect look.
  3. Identify the main points. Apply a light eyeshadow or highlighter to the natural areas of the face: forehead, bridge of the nose, tip of the nose, cheekbones, cupid’s bow and around the eyes and eyebrows. Use a concealer (not to mention!), highlighter or eye shadow that is slightly lighter than your skin tone or gloss.
  4. Cleaning. It doesn’t require a cheek contour brush, but can act as a bridge between shadows and highlights, making makeup look more natural.
  5. Collection of materials. Color is very important because you are wearing a color that does not match your skin tone. Use a large, fine brush, blending brush, or sponge to blend the shadows and highlights into the skin or foundation until the lines you’ve created no longer look natural.
  6. Job offer. Use powder or spray for perfect results.

WHAT PRO TIPS WOULD YOU USE A CONTOURING POWDER OR CREAM?

  • Beautify the top of the cheekbones, between the nostrils and Cupid’s bow with a highlighter, powder or concealer that is 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone.
  • Apply the brush only to the cheekbones and gently smooth it towards the crease.
