Have you ever walked through a mall and seen new vehicles on display? Nowadays, it is a common sight to see new cars as well as some classic or collector vehicles, especially during special shows. How do they get cars into the mall and why would they want to?
In this guide, we show you how these vehicles pass through the mall. We also show why people show cars in the mall.
How do they get the cars to the mall?
Dealers bring cars into the mall by driving them in, but cars don’t enter the mall through the same doors as you. Instead, there are larger doors that can open for large, bulky items like vehicles.
In some cases, ordinary doors can also be used, if they are wide enough with special hinges.
At first glance, you might not see these special ports. However, it must have unique hinges that allow the door to open wider. Only a select few people in the mall can open these doors for vehicle entry. As soon as the cars pass, they are closed and locked.
From there, the car was driven slowly through the corridors of the shopping center until it arrived at its destination. The person driving the car usually does not work in the shopping center. Instead, the retailer sends employees to handle this transportation.
This process only happens when the mall is closed, keeping everyone safe. This allows you to visit the mall one night and see no cars, but come back in the morning and see a whole new display.
Why are cars on display in shopping malls?
1. Share new designs
Usually, everyone waits patiently to see the latest vehicle releases, but very few people want to go out and see them. To help these people see what’s new, dealers place some of the best vehicles in local malls for you to check out.
Automakers want to make sure people drive the newest cars as soon as they arrive at dealerships, so keeping them in the mall makes more sense. The only problem with checking cars this way is that it is not possible to test them. If you’re interested in something else, you’ll still need to visit your local dealer.
Car manufacturers also place futuristic or concept models in the mall to understand the public’s perception. The spokesperson can get feedback on the model before the automaker decides to build it.
2. Highlight the latest features
There might not be anything new in the design of the vehicle for the latest model year, but there might be some updates to the features. When this happens, dealers want you to know about the features.
Not only could the car be in the mall, there could also be displays with the latest technology and safety features. There may also be a demo showing how they work. If a dealer representative is present at the mall, you may be able to ask additional questions about the technology. Either way, we hope these features will make you want a newer model and head to your dealer.
3. Promote a stress-free shopping environment
When you go to a car dealership to look at cars, it’s hard to do it yourself. Salespeople work on a commission basis and fight for you to get the sale. This high-pressure shopping experience is what most people try to avoid.
To combat this, dealers allow you to view a new car in a shopping center where there is no pressure. If you want to sit and look at the car for 30 minutes, no one will stop you. You can even sit in the car and enjoy the view as long as you want. You can visit a retailer here if you want to see more. Otherwise, there is no obligation and you can just walk away.
4. Partnerships/special competitions
Car dealerships cooperate with the shopping center to organize special events. You may see the car on display to promote the event. In these events, you can enter a contest where you can win something from the dealer. In return, the retailer receives your contact information so they can follow up with you.
